Nifty: The Cooler Dry PDF Print E-mail

Every time I’m cleaning up the boat after a day of fishing, I have to figure out a new way to get the cooler to dry properly – and I’m sure you do, too. Lay it on its side, and it blows over. Prop the top up with a soda can, and it falls shut. Try flipping it upside down, and the (cheap plastic) hinges get stressed. Leave the darn thing shut, and there will be a layer of algae or mold on the bottom the next time you open it up. What’s a conscientious boater supposed to do? Here’s a nifty little goodie that solves the problem: the Cooler Dry.

The Cooler Dry folks sent me an e-mail suggesting I try their product out, and then they sent me a sample to test. And after using it this weekend, I think they’ve got a winner on their hands. This thing is uber-simple: it’s an inverted plastic “U” with a smaller “u” on the top. The larger section slides down over the edge of the cooler, and the smaller u props the cooler’s lid open to allow air to flow. Since the bottom part grips the cooler it stays put, and won’t fall off or get blown away.

Not clear enough? Check out their video, and you can see exactly how this little doo-dad works. Here’s the best part: you can get one of these thingies on Cooler Dry’s web site, for a measly five bucks.

It's totally KISS, and it works - big thumbs up!
